Pour ce sujet nu, j'ai utilisé des crayons-aquarelle. Ensuite, en utilisant un petit à moyen pinceau doux j'ai appliqué de l'eau sur mon dessin initial.   J'ai commencé avec un peu d'eau, puis j'en ai ajouté afin produire cet effet délavé/tacheté.  Plus l'eau est ajoutée, plus la couleur sera claire. J'ai utilisé un pinceau plus petit pour les endroits détaillés.

For this figure drawing lesson I used watercolour pencil.  Using a medium to small soft paintbrush I painted water over my initial shaded drawing.  I started out with a little bit of water, and added more to produce a more washed out effect.  The more water is added, the lighter the color. I used a smaller brush for detailed areas.

My interest in art was sparked many years ago when, as a child back in the 70s, I began watching the television series Paint Along With Nancy. I was captivated by these 30 minute programmes. Nancy’s unusual method of painting intrigued me and her amusing, unscripted running commentary appealed to me. Through her shows she taught me, and I am sure many other aspiring artists, the basics of art.

A few years ago I took a conscious decision to make time for art in my life. At that period I was living in Paris and joined the Atelier des Beaux Arts de Paris (Fine Arts Atelier of Paris) as an evening student, concentrating essentially on developing my figure drawing skills (the cornerstone of art training). After relocating to Greece I joined the Εργαστήρι Ζωγραφικής (Art Atelier) in my neighbourhood of Vrilissia. 

Under the expert guidance of Dimitris I began trying my hand at landscapes and still-life compositions using acrylics and graphite pencil. Today, I continue to enjoy figure drawing and going forward I will be swapping my pencils for pastels for a number of live model and landscape lessons. This will be a fairly new experience for me, having only attempted a few pastel pieces in the past. 

The beautiful landscapes of Greece are an on-going source of inspiration to me and in particular the mountain ranges that surround Athens. The cloud formations can be breath-taking. At home, I work essentially from photographs so I am rarely without a camera. I love to capture the ever changing mountain scenery and especially the golden glow of gorse as it illuminates the mysterious Mount Pentelis in spring. 

In 2012 I decided it was time to build my own website, a Facebook page and a blog as a means of sharing my passion for art, my works, my thoughts and my inspirations.

Mon intérêt pour l'art a été déclenché il y a plusieurs années lorsque petite je regardais la série télévisée Paint Along With Nancy.  J'ai été captivée par ses programmes de 30 minutes. Grâce à ses émissions, Nancy m'a appris, et je suis certaine à beaucoup d'autres artistes prometteurs, les bases de l'art. 

Il y a quelques années j'ai pris la décision de réellement consacrer du temps à ma passion. A cette époque, je vivais à Paris et j’ai rejoint l’Atelier des Beaux-Arts de Paris.  

Quelques années plus tard, après avoir déménagé en Grèce, j'ai rejoint le Ζωγραφικής Εργαστήρι (L’Atelier d’Art) dans mon quartier : Vrilissia.  Sous la direction experte du prof Dimitris j'ai commencé à essayer ma main à des paysages et des natures mortes.   

Les beaux paysages de la Grèce constituent une source permanente d'inspiration pour moi et en particulier les montagnes qui entourent Athènes.  Les formations nuageuses sont souvent à couper le souffle.   

À la maison, je travaille essentiellement à partir de photos et je suis, de ce fait, rarement sans mon appareil lorsque je me balade.  J'aime capturer les paysages qui sont en évolution constante. 

Cet été, j'ai décidé qu'il était temps de construire mon propre site web, une page Facebook et un blog comme moyen de partager ma passion pour l'art, mes œuvres, mes pensées et mes inspirations.
